Trick or treat

Genesis 3:13 (English Standard Version) Then the LORD God said to the woman, “What is this that you have done?” The woman said, “The serpent deceived me, and I ate.”

INTRO: Trick is a thing done or said to deceive or cheat, a mannerism, a habit, feat or skill which is deceitful. To trick is to make someone be in a position contrary to that held by majority and thus bring one into conflict.

I.                 A trick has been done
A.(GIILAD) and you have someone to blame for your mistake or sin (Genesis 3:13)
B. (LANSISI) you get something after you trick someone (Judges 16:5) or the trickster annoys you with pleadings (Ex: Delilah)

II.              A TRICK MADE ON YOU
A.(nalingla) will make you furious and vengeful (Matthew 2:16) Ex: Herod killed the babies because of it
B. (PAGBITIK)—knowing it on hand-- will make you  stand against the trick and do the right thing (Mark 12:15) Ex: Jesus when asked on paying of taxes

CONCLUSION: (Ephesians 6:11) Isul-ob ang tanang kahimanan sa gubat nga gihatag sa Dios kaninyo aron makasukol kamo batok sa mga pagpanlimbong sa yawa.  “Be strong in the Lord — Since every relation in life brings along with it corresponding duties, and requires vigor and resolution in the discharge of them, whatever therefore the circumstance or situation may be which you are in, see that you do not rely on your own strength, but apply to the Lord, for his strength, and arm yourselves with the power of his might” (Benson Commentary)

God promises mercy

SCRIPTURE: Malachi 3:13-18

Intro: One unknown quote says that “Grace is what God gives us when we don't deserve and mercy is when God doesn't give us what we do deserve.”

I.                 GOD’S MERCY
A.  Not for those who stopped believing and hoping (v14)
B.  Not for those who envy the wicked and their ways (v15)

II.              They who show mercy
A.  Blessed are they for God sees them (v16)
B. God will have mercy on them and will take them as His own (v17)

CONCLUSION: The Difference will be known (v18). God records His intimate friends in His book of remembrance (V16) cf Ex 32:32. God’s special possession when He takes action on His day are His special friends—those who fear and trust in His name. There will be a judgment day and a review. There will be erasures too. (Rev 3:5)
